Presentation of workshop results
The cases studied vary from the development of an empty space on Amsterdam's Zeeburgereiland, public space development in Eindhoven's Strijp-S, city making in The Hague's Haagse Havens, to the opportunities of digital media for civic innovation in Amsterdam. Can we port the collaborative principles from e-culture to urban design? How can we make use of digital technologies to enable citizens to act on collectively shared issues? Can media technologies bring about a sense of place and connection among urbanites, and a feeling of ‘ownership’ of their environment? These questions will be addressed in the various presentations. The workshop outcomes contribute to the general debate on new media and urban design.
