FREE LODGING DURING AMSTERDAM ART 2008: Amsterdam, Mediamatic

Sleep Inn

Nocturnal care for art buyers and cleaners

Mediamatic is offering the visitors of Art Amsterdam and the Temporary Museum Amsterdam a free place to sleep. And 5 days of performances for everybody. Your hostesses will be Melanie Bonajo (NL) and Kinga Kielczynska (PL).

In this performance-friendly environment you will be offered a camp bed, breakfast with coffee tasseography and dream interpretation, and personal care. There is space for 50 people per night. If you forgot your sleeping bag, you can rent one. Your hostesses will be Melanie Bonajo and Kinga Kielczynska and their team of volunteers.

There are daily performances from 11:00-22:00 open to the public, with the working title Mediummatic, 5 days of alternative communication.

Wednesday May 7th
The Art of Permanent Laughter

- Laughing meditation workshop

Laughing will relax you physically and psychologically. Without forcing it, laugh with or without a reason, every time as if it is the very first time and you will begin the laughing meditation. There are three stages: 1. stretching 2. laughing (you can also cry) 3. silence. The essence is accepting, letting-go and conscious being!

A medium is going to create a connection with the world of spirits, that is an invisible world for most humans. You are kindly requested to bring objects that belong to deceased people.

Performances will start promptly on time and late commers will not be admitted. You can join in during break in between.

The spiritual installation of Kinga Kielczynska and Melanie Bonajo is open throughout the exhibition.
And in the entrance you will find:
A compilation of video works by Andrew McKee, Marija Kadelburg, Igor
Stangliczky, Bogomir Doringer, Emese Csornai and Ivan Kadelburg, curated by
Mhairi Macfarlane and Ivan Kadelburg.

House rules

1 Entrance is granted with a ticket from Art Amsterdam or the Temporary Museum passe-partout.
2 Entrance is free if you buy an artwork or help keep the sleeping areas clean.
3 Curfew is 1am.
4 No lights or noise after 1:30am.
5 You will be kindly requested to leave before 11am.
6 Pets are not welcome

The Sleep-Inn is open daily from 11am-1am.

Reservation

You can make an online reservation for the Sleep-Inn. In the right column you will find the nights. Click on the night you want to stay over, click on the 'make a reservation' button and register if you are new at Mediamatic, or log in if you already have a profile page. On the reservation pages you can see who else has reserved for that night.

The Sleep-Inn is part of the Temporary Museum Amsterdam.

Temporary Museum Amsterdam is the urban parallel program of Art Amsterdam where temporary exhibitions, lectures and meetings take place. Using the city's map as one building and the art institutes as the rooms of one big imaginary museum. The Sleep-Inn is the bedroom!
