In his own work, Kirk explores the use of technology to abstract the human body, its movements, and its senses. He was a research fellow at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne from 1993-1995 and has won awards from ISEA, Ars Electronica, Arts Council of England, Ministry of Science and Education North Rhine Westphalia and others.
