The proposed profiles of the young artistswill be: script writers, documentary makers, photographers and visual arts artists; you will work with another group of 8 artists from Italy. During this project you will meet local people who have suffered from the effects of floods. You will also get the chance to interact withabroad number of local, national and European policy makers, including Members of the European Parliament. You will find out if they are concerned about the current danger. The results are going to be presented in the form of an exhibition and video report on a far-reaching, international level.
TOPIC
Global warming has a significant influence on the social, economic(al) and personal attitude of the European population. This project will highlight floods as its particular concern amongst the global warming issues that directly affect the continent.
METHODOLOGY
Based on this ‘hot’ issue, the organisers have targeted 3 strategic regions, namely: Maierato in Italy; the province of Zeeland in The Netherlands and Brussels in Belgium. The first two have suffered from floods and are a good base to start the field research and trigger interest in meetings with authorities, local planners and bureaucrats, etc. Brussels is an excellent place to find out how much the European policy makers care about local problems and citizen’s protection.
The final results of the project are going to be presented in the form of a documented exhibition based on the texts, interviews, photos and films;materials will be produced throughout the entire process. Using different approaches, communication tools and strategies, the artists will construct an intelligent awareness campaign (exhibition).
