A novel telling the story of Laxmi who as a young Bhutanese woman born in a refugee camp in Nepal finally gets resettled to the Netherlands at age 18. Since then she struggles to integrate in society and become independent and a part of modern western society and at the same time drifts away from her traditional family. And will she ever see the love of her life Jigme again now that he lives in the US?
