Creating a page
First, collect all the information you need. Often people start creating content on the website before they have all the necessary information, and forget to add additional information afterwards. Don’t do that. It’s collect and create, not create and collect. Also check whether certain pages (like person/organization profiles) already exist on the website. You can always edit those, but avoid double profiles.
Then, log in.
Thirdly, create a page by clicking on your name.
Various options appear:
Article
When you want to write a blog post, or a page containing text like the one you are on now.

Title
Catchy title when it is a blog post, clear title when it is an informative page

Added info in a few words

3-5 sentences on the topic

Go wild, but be consistent and clear. If you can try to link to different articles in your text. Don't go overboard with this! 1-2 links is more then enough. example
Attached media
Media found on the internet (under creative commons or with the right to use or share) or made by Mediamatic staff or collaborators. You can create a new media page by clicking “Add Media item”, but after you have saved the article, you will have to go to the media file and add all the necessary information as stated under 3. Media!
Keywords
To all pages you create you have to add keywords. Find the right ones by clicking on the different sub themes and/or searching for them in the search bar. The more keywords, the higher the page will show up on the list of related pages

Actor
Persons or organisations the article is about
Location
Where the topic of the article takes place. Optional
Event
This is a time related page. For instance: biotalk / odorama / secretopia / workshop / meet *artist name* / exhibition (/ opening) / performance / screening / event by a collaborator / other
Title
Catchy title starting with the programme line name (For example: Biotalk: Algorithms from Nature”)
Subtitle
State in a few words what the event is about or the names of those participating
Introduction
State in a few sentences (4-5) in catchy but professional phrases why this event is interesting, what it is about and who is participating (if you didn’t include that info in the subtitle)

Explain short all the people part of the program, what their background is and what they are going to do in the event
Attached media
Pictures of the presenters and/or their work. Sometimes other media, found on the internet (under creative commons or with the right to use or share), or made by Mediamatic staff. You can create a new page by clicking “Add Media Item”, but after you have saved the event page, you will have to go to the media file and add all the necessary information as stated under 3. Media!
After the event has taken place, the photographer documenting the event should upload the best 4-5 photo’s here.
Keyword
To all pages you create you have to add keywords. Find the right ones by clicking on the different sub themes and/or searching for them in the search bar. The more keywords, the higher the page will show up on the list of related pages
Author
The one who initiated/created the event (almost always Mediamatic, sometimes a collaborator like the curator of the event)
Actor
The speakers/artists/collaborators in the programme
Location
Where the event takes place
Organiser
The one hosting the event (almost always Mediamatic, sometimes a collaborator like the curator of the event)
Date range
Important for events. When this information is not filled in, it won’t show up in our calendar (mediamatic.net/calendar).
Media
This can be: image (photo) / video / audio / document (pdf for example)
Title
Name of person / art work / project / what is depicted
Subtitle
Optional extra information
Introduction
Give explanation of what is depicted (especially when related to Mediamatic event)
Address

Edit an existing page
Simply go to the page you want to edit, and click on edit. Don't forget to save the changes after you have made them.

Images in text
First add all images you want to use by clicking on "Add media item". Then go to the part of your body text where you want a picture. Click on the landscape symbol in your body text (English) which is called "Insert a Zotonic media item". Then you can select the image you want.
If you don't use the "insert a Zotonic media item" option, all you pictures will show on the bottom of the page, except for the first one in line > this one will be the picture under the introduction (the main picture).
Languages
The language employed in communications is English. If you need to create a page in Dutch, you can do so by clicking on the settings symbol on top of your edit page. Then simply tick the option "Nederlands", and on top of your content boxes the option "Nederlands" will appear. You need to fill in all the information in Dutch as you did in English.
Insert url
Select the section of text you want to link to another url. Click on the chain symbol "Insert/edit link", and fill in the url.
Formats (for the design of your text)
For headings in text go to Formats > Headings > Headings 3.
Regular text is Formats > Blocks > Paragraph.
Italic is preferred over bold when drawing attention to a certain word/sentence.

YOU SHOULD ALWAYS GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE
And you must always have permission to use pictures/articles. Thus, authors and actors are mandatory to add when you create a page. Only use images that you can rightfully use. So no material that is protected by copyright. When looking for material under Creative Commons only use material that you can Share Alike / For Non-commercial / Attribution.KEYWORDS

Mediamatic already did a lot, so there is a chance a profile or media page already exist on our website. Search for it first.(UN)PUBLISHED
Unpublished articles can only be seen by people that are logged in. If you want the outside world to see your posts then make sure to click 'published' once you're done.SPELLING
