I am a self-taught visual artist working primarily in hand-embroidery on textiles with a special interest in “memento mori”, a genre that reflects on the impermanence and fragility of life, nations and human endeavors.
I am currently working in conjuction with the Olfactory History of Oosterok project, planned for 2022. My work revolves around an embroidered map that traces the movements of scents throughout history. The idea is to explore the relationship between, smells, movements of people and objects, and collective memories.
