Hato is Japanese for Pigeon. And Poppo is Japanese for coo. Artists Emma Huffman, Mily Bogaart and Asuka Kondo have designed this origami pattern exclusively for the Mediamatic pigeons. You can't coo with without a beak. Mediamatic invites you to transform yourself, by folding, into the center of the evening, the pigeon. Using traditional origami techniques you will fold your own beak which you will be wearing for the rest of the night, because no beak means no entrance to Mediamatic!

Emma Fukuwatari Huffman is a Japanese designer practising and researching visible mending and caring. Her first mend was patching the holes in the knees of her favourite trousers at age 7. She believes mending is an act of both care and rebellion much needed in this day and age and hopes to expand and challenge its meaning. She graduated master's at Kyoto Institute of Technology with her project “Mending with Mycelium” which explored the possibilities of mending in collaboration with multispecies.
Mily is a designer from Arnhem. Her projects often start with something small that she notices during the day. Yet, there is always something bigger behind the small wonder. Like a mushrooms with a complex system underneath. She worked withArne Hendriks, to learn about these hidden storylines and how to uncover and tell them. Her favourite material is ceramics and her favourite colour blue.
Asuka, a girl from Japan is a connector and a celebrator of relationship. Through bright colours and spirit, she creates a safe space to connect and gather. Asuka puts herself centre-stage in her work, on the other hand, through the interaction she gives stages to others to speak themselves. Her products have a role of a practical purpose to do her research but they are also carriers of narratives. As Human Connector, she uses (semi)public space as her play ground to communicate with strangers.
