The Dutch-Belgian artist couple Joan Heemskerk and Dirk Paesmans, whose first names form Jodi, are among the pioneers of net-art.
Originating from the world of photography, video and performance they transform the processes which normally occur in the background onto the surface of their web pages at www.jodi.org: crashes, log-in files, software liability conditions, refusal of guarantee services and such.
At first they presented their work exclusively on the Internet, and later, CDs came as supplements to publications. Through the CD-Rom, the immaterial took on a concrete form.
With their work, Jodi has set measures and standards against which all other work in the genre is compared. Incontestably, they are central figures in net-art.
Jodi has exhibited and lectured internationally.
