Public Affairs presents art that is surprisingly artful in its public efficacy, and art that is its own politics.

Breaking down the conventions of perception has always been a special function of art. Now it has to do this in the context of a reality with a hugely increased fictional component as the world becomes ever more digitised.

One section of the exhibition Public Affairs presents the work of the graphic
designer Cornel Windlin (born 1964), specifically his printed materials, posters, catalogues, brochures and books which - by means of intelligent, humorous strategies - seem to reflect on their own role as instruments of communication. On the ground floor of the Kunsthaus and in its collection rooms the exhibition Public Affairs will present works by younger artists such as Maurizio Cattelan, San Keller, Monica Bonvicini, Christian Jankowski - confronted directly with the monumental paintings of Hodler - and by a number of 'forerunners', including Joseph Beuys, Yoko Ono, Carolee Schneemann, Dan Graham, Laurie Anderson, Sophie Calle and Pipilotti Rist.
