Kelpe (DC Recordings) is Kel Mckeown from Loughborough, England. With influences ranging from the bleeps and bass of classic Warp artists to the spectral Folk of John Renbourn, and from the minimalism of Steve Reich and Harmonia to the percussive spacescapes of Tortoise and Do Make Say Think, the diversity of Kelpe’s inspiration finds reflection in his own sonic adventures. It informs his ever-evolving sound, serving as map and compass to guide his lunar-bound, B-boy throw downs.
Guido Möbius (Dekorder/Karaoke Kalk) uses battalions of instruments, mostly acoustic, to build a collage of brittle sound-tissues and sweet tones, melding into complex arrangements for one unique, intimate sound. With one eye always on the groove, Möbius is particularly fond of small parts of Polyrhythmic percussion-patterns and constantly changing harmonies. Guido Möbius tampers with our auditory expectations.
Marcelle (Another Nice Mess) plays a seemingly schizophrenic mix of the strangest sounds on her live sets and weekly radio shows, from Electronica, Techno, Dubstep, Minimal, Drum & Bass, Riot Grrls, Ragga, Grime, Leftfield Hip Hop, Clickhouse, Breakcore, Dub and many more. But how marvelous – everything fits together like a charm! She will be playing with Cologne-based percussionist Holger Mertin, whose intense concert performances range from experimental jazz and groovy popular music, to the complex metres of traditional rhythms and folk music from all over the world.
Intermission is a music programme evoking new forms of critical reflection on the question of contemporary music and its relations with other platforms of cultural activity. Every last Friday of the month.
