Symbiotic Ring

This is part of a serie of the Symboitic Jewellery project of Maurizio Montalti.

By using fungi as a material for manifacturing, a personal object, usually related with private meanings and feelings, becomes a responsive organism.

The attempt to assist the growing process of mushrooms, originates iconic shapes and symbols that could lead to a requalification and an awareness of the role of fungi and of their beauty, while establishing a mutual symbiotic interdipendence.

The design of these jewelry-pieces also targets our current tendency towards methodologies of production like rapid prototyping, that shorten drastically the time of manifacturing, questioning the advantage created by these techniques as opposed to the possibility of re-enabling our senses, through an expanded state of awareness, given by the practice and the observation of a slower manifacturing process.
