Emil Yap a Filipino visual artist widely known for his murals, installations, public arts. A pioneer in tubao paintings and in the promotion and incorporating of "baybayin" in his arts. His works are recognized for its uniqueness and intensity and are strongly influenced by social realism artistic movement and eastern arts. His artworks are represented in some institutions and private collections of some Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, American and Scandinavian art enthusiasts.
Emil Yap has been selected as a grant artist for alternative public art of the Puffin Foundation (USA) in 1994 and chosen as one of the commissioned artist for Suntec City, Singapore in 1995 and consistent won awards and recognitions since elementary as an art students. Awarded by Inter Agency Art Committee EED the Artist Special Award for Street Art Education in 1992; Special Artist Award in 1993 by the QCG-CCLQC and Outstanding Artists on Nationalist Culture Promotion by the Filipino Artists Cultural Association in 1999.

Emil Yap has been designing posters, books & magazines, calendars & postcards and brochures, producing meticulously hand painted cards, some of which are collectors items. These are sold in selected specialty shops, galleries, museums and institutions.

He teaches various aspects of visual, creative, alternative and indigenous arts to children, out-of-school youth and prisoners. Since 1992, he has developed alternative eastern based art workshops for the youth. He also served as an art/visual consultant of some non-governmental organizations and private corporations in their creative/visual art activities and projects.

At presents he is developing new forms of experimental arts and installations in conjunction with his new group called Ugnayan. Together they do researches, conduct inter-actions, discuss styles, concepts and development in Philippine arts.

Emil is also affiliated with Visual Artists Cooperative of the Philippines, Timog Artists Group, Art Association of the Philippines, Visual Arts Philippines, Sining Binhi Art Foundation Inc, Sining Bayan Foundation, Kalipunan ng mga Manlilikhang Sining Pilipino, Artists and Writers Action Committee (Canada), Artists and Popular Culture Coalition (USA), South-South Artists Cooperation (Switzerland)
