Artist Profile Photo: Nora Nord -

Nora Nord is a Norwegian interdisciplinary artist based in London. Working across mediums as varied as photography, moving images, podcasting and journalism, her creative practice is an extension of her outlook on life: playful and exploratory.

Nord has graduated in 2019 from CSM with an MA in fashion photography. However, her work focuses less on an interest in clothes and aesthetics, and it is more about a fierce curiosity about stories and characters. Her approach as a photographer is also often linked to a passion for advocacy and social justice.

Portraits of queer couples in quarantine for Teen Vogue, and documenting new mothers and their struggles with early years childcare for The Stack, are some of Nord’s work where the personal is political. Nord is inspired by people’s efforts of coming together and striving for a more just world. As such, she has captured scenes from the London vigil for Sarah Everard, as a contributor to i-D magazine and interviewed climate activists during London’s COP26 protest.

Moreoever, Nord also exlores in her work media perception of neurodiversity and Queer ADHD, and her projects are often sed to build spaces and communities where people can share their lived experiences. Her personal work inlcude Wellcome Prize-shortlisted project Queer ADHD: a series of candid bedroom portraits of members of London’s queer community. In this intimate space, often in various states of disarray, the featured individuals are photographed and later interviewed about their journey with ADHD.
