Saturday May 17: What can we learn from a soap bubble?
13:00 - 18:00
Leanne Wijnsma (www.escapism.cc) researches the sense and functioning of fragrances. With the human instinctual behaviour as artistic points of departure Leanne uses smell as a form of design, experimenting how it can influence our experience, decisions and choices. She will be developing special scented soap for making bubbles during Lightness.
For scented bubbles Leanne devellopes zelfmade fragrances brewed from her own garden, ranging from 'spring' till 'autum'.
Sunday May 18: Past and future of the soap bubble.
13:00 - 18:00
Nienke & Co. will remake the 17th century soap bubble, by making their own soap and soap solution first.
Lightness
In an age where everyone is affected by the weight of society, the overbearing fears of the economy and the heavy hand of government, 'lightness' is the way forward. Let go of the material and celebrate the ethereal with 11 weeks of 'lightness'. Each week Mediamatic invites a new artist to question the meaning of 'lightness'.
