The DE-FA art project was created in St Petersburg, Russia in 2001. It creates realtime movie on the stage. As an artist, I am interested in working with the cultural materia of cinematographic quotes. The name DE-FAs mostly associated with feature film industry of Eastern Europe.
The task of the project is to bring these quotes through live contact between the audience and the performers. Through observing several combined media such as cinematography, theatre, performance art and live music, the viewers become partakers of the actual show.
DE-FA performs energetic music, mixing and combining styles such as: newfunk, twist, disco, rockabilly and rocknroll.
In 2004 Artproject DE-FA moved to Berlin, a great creative milieu for the realization of such project, as well as the birthplace of DEFA, the legendary film studio.
