In Media Res - Invitation to Curate

I am writing to invite your participation as a curator for a theme
week about Media as Public Art for *In Media Res* during the week of
March 28-April 1. You have been selected because of your excellence in
creating or critiquing urban screens, digital media as public art or
interactive architecture. This is a very exciting opportunity to start
and engage in a conversation around this emerging art form. I realize
this is a bit last minute as the
publish deadline is March 25th, but everything can be done from a
networked computer and should not require more than an afternoon's time.

In case you are unfamiliar with this project, *In Media Res* is a
subset of Media Commons. In Media Res is committed to experimentation
with topical writing in a digital environment. As a curator, we ask
you to select a short video of no more than 3 minutes (this could be a
link to a video online or something you create and upload) and then write
a brief response of 300-350 words inspired by the video clip. These
short responses are meant to be conversation starters rather than
complete arguments and should not require more than afternoon's
commitment.

In addition to selecting a video clip and writing a short commentary, we
also hope you will read and comment on the contributions of the other
curators throughout the week of March 28 - April 1 . As a model of a
lively conversation, you can view past theme weeks here.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like to know more
about the goals
of *In Media Res* or the process of contributing a curatorial piece.

If you accept this invitation, we will send you a series of reminder
emails containing step-by-step instructions to lead you through the
process. We'll send the first reminder two weeks before the theme
week begins.

Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Best,
