The UNStudio in Amsterdam has set up a Lecture Series where guest lecturers are invited to present and discuss their work in their respective fields. In 2014, the overarching theme for the lecture series is “Beyond Sustainability”. At Play the City, we hardly use the dangerously vague term ‘sustainability’, however the researchers of UNStudio describe our playful approach to city-making by including the different parties through the practice of serious gaming reflects a very interesting tool for effective and therefore sustainable city making.
UNStudio, founded in 1988 by Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos, is a Dutch architectural design studio specialising in architecture, urban development and infrastructural projects. The name, UNStudio, stands for United Network Studio, referring to the collaborative nature of the practice.
