He has been called a multi-instrumentalist, and until his death in 2006, Ali Farka Touré was one of the most influential Malinese Musicians of all time.
On the last Friday of July an acoustic version of the Ali Farka Touré Tribute Band will bring their Malian Blues to Mediamatic. The band is here to spread their peaceful summer vibe, ideal for when you're having dinner at Mediamatic ETEN. Join us for a unique and intimate version of the Desert Rock music style.
Abel Bocoum and the Great River Tradition
Abel Bochum began his career as a member of ASCO, which was the Ali Farka Touré group. He considers Touré to be his mentor into the African blues. Inspired by what he calls ‘the great river tradition’, his music has close ties to the Niger river. This sentiment is captured on his first album Alkibar, which was released ten years ago.
Next to Abel Bocoum Mediamatic presents Mamadou Kelly on the guitar and Hamma Sankaré on percussion.
