Deform allows the body to experiment freely with every sensory impulse. The person in the cocoon is anonymous but expressive through movement. It is about the resourcefulness of the body and the discovery of new patterns of movement. The line between man, object and nature seems to blur. For the performers, the sculpture feels soft and familiar inside. The viewer experiences the spectacle on the outside as something more surreal. The work is a playful invitation for the audience to associate without boundaries. Woutera made this work from the inner need to deform limiting structures. The work is an homage to expressive freedom.
