Scott Smith

Scott Smith is a futurist, writer, speaker and consultant. He manages Changeist, a consultancy that blends approaches from design research, innovation, foresight and market research to create Human Foreisght: insights into the near future that help organizations find opportunities and develop market spaces where new technologies and emerging behaviors converge.

Scott's work focuses on how technology changes lives and lifestyles: how and where we live, learn, communicate, care for ourselves and spend our free and working time. He has assisted global communications, technology, mobility, food, consumer packaged goods and energy companies develop an understanding of future pathways for their businesses.

In his past work, he has managed research in these areas at thought leaders such as Social Technologies, the Yankee Group, where he managed European Internet research in London, Current Analysis in Washington, DC, and Jupiter Research in New York. He has appeared on CNN and CNBC, and been quoted widely in the press, including Fortune, the Economist, and the Financial Times. He has also addressed public and private symposia on a broad range of future-facing topics from Athens to Helsinki to Tokyo. Most recently, he has shared his ideas in forums as diverse as UNICEF, SXSW, and LIFT.
