The One Minute foundation

The One Minutes

One Minutes are videos lasting exactly one minute, titles included. They are art in motion. They quickly and clearly tell a story or capture a mood, are dynamic, silent, dramatic, atmospheric, poetic, sharp…. Above all, they are a pleasure to watch. One Minutes owe their popularity to the development of digital technology and to the spirit of the age – an age in which everything

gets faster. Begun on a small scale in 1998, the One Minutes initiative has now developed into a mini world movement. The One Minutes Foundation manages an archive of around 10,000 minutes from over 100 countries.

Activities

The One Minutes Foundation promotes the production and dissemination of one minute videos. We work alongside 15 partner organisations, facilitating workshops and TV programmes, organising festivals, exhibitions and a yearly award ceremony

for the best One Minutes. We also partner with the European Cultural Foundation and UNICEF in the One Minutes Junior

Beijing Today Art Museum

The One Minutes Foundation is organising a world exhibition that will take place prior to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

This video jukebox brings the one minutes to the streets. The spectator decides which movies will be shown, so you can choose your own selection of your favourite one minute movies. The jukebox is filled with one minutes from Europe and Africa.

The jukebox is designed by designer Dick van Hoff (from DROOG design), especially for the Olympics in Beijing next year. Right now it is celebrating its world premier at the Boijmans Van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam.
