Onno Groen
Cum laude graduate of two full Bachelor programmes in the field of Communication and Multimedia design at the HAN University of Applied Sciences. Initially started with the Bachelor programme Business Logistics and Management but decided after six months to switch to multimedia design as it better suited my personal interests. Finished aforementioned Bachelor programmes in four and a half years.
Started my own webdesign company when I was seventeen, working on a wide array of projects. The work I did was mainly for foundations, small and medium-sized enterprises and private individuals and consisted of simple websites without much interaction. The work slowly evolved into creating interactive websites, cd-roms and graphic designs.
During my time at the HAN University of Applied Sciences I followed an internship at LaVerbe, a communication consultancy. My work as an intern consisted mainly of webbased design and/or development work. Projects included interactive Flash dashboards, static and dynamic websites and Powerpoint presentations.
After a six months internship I kept working at LaVerbe for over a year as a standby Multimedia designer.
As a multimedia designer you need to be on top of every new development in the every potential field. I follow new developments by attending design and development conferences and participating in design meetings.
I would like to expand my knowledge in the field of interaction design, user experience design and man-machine interface design. There are so many ways of interaction that are not used much or could have the potential to be developed further. My challenge in the future lies at these suggested yet underexplored interactions between humans and computers, televisions and mobile devices. Bringing usability and user experience to the next level.
