Lotte Geeven is a multimedia artist whose works revolve around human connections to the sublime and intangible aspects of our natural surroundings, such as that of the sea and the earth. Therefore, she mainly works on-site, letting the environment dictate her work as she attempts to understand these complex matters in a way that questions our granted knowledge of it.
In 2010, Geeven was awarded the Illy Prize for the most innovative artist. An example of these innovative works was The Sound of The Earth; a sound recording of the Earth’s core, or heartbeat rather, from the deepest hole in the planet. This recording portrays an abstract of the world we thought we knew.
