The first edition of the Brussels Biennial will be held from 19 October 2008 through 04 January 2009. For the first time in Brussels: a biennial for contemporary art. 7 exhibitions, 70 artists and an off-program with more than one hundred fifty artists exposing their artwork all over the city!

Brussels Biennial 1 opens on 19 October 2008, exactly fifty years after the closing of the 1958 World Fair. An international crowd of artists takes the visitor in tow throughout the history of modernization of Brussels. The participating institutions are online - so check the website. A list of artists is also online, among whom are AMO - Rem Koolhaas & Renier De Graaf (the Netherlands), Richard Buckminster Fuller (United States), Shahidul Alam (Bangladesch), Danijela Micanovic (Russia) and many more.

With the exhibition 'Laugh Track', which explores, avoiding hard statements, the concept of 'criticality' in the art world and art practice featuring work of international visual artists. Taking place from October 19 - November 1 2008 at YUM21C in Brussels. Opening on 18 October 2008 around 18:00hrs.
