Jason Urick (Thrill Jockey) lives and hosts events at Baltimore’s all-year-tropical warehouse life and show space, Floristree. He toured the US with WZT Hearts, hosted the Once Twice Sound music festival and recently released his first solo full-length album Husbands, a stab at Pop music, on Thrill Jockey Records.
Ecstatic Sunshine (Hoss Records) is an ongoing musical project that began in 2005 as the guitar duo, Matthew Papich and Dustin Wong. Over the years, the essence of Ecstatic Sunshine has been in Papich’s unique guitar work; however, the shifting cast allowed Ecstatic Sunshine to move effortlessly into new lands. Echoes of Punk, Ambient, Reggae and Techno float in and out of Ecstatic Sunshine’s sound, though it never feels contrived and never supplants the energy or vision of the original output.
