Eva Pel is a visual artist and urban geographer interested in the fields of urbanism, urban history and sociology. The subjects of her projects often involve these fields, while her research methods come to production mainly through photography and interviews. Researching and documenting cultural celebrations, events and spectacles, Ms. Pel's most recent project focuses on last year’s NY400. Pel visited New York to observe events produced for NY400, the year long celebration of 400 years of Dutch culture in New York, and commemoration of Henry Hudson's arrival in New York in 1609.
At 1K project space she will exhibit the photographic research material of this project 'Observations of a Celebration NL & NY 2009', which she used to create a publication of the same title.
