Rodin The Thinker

To invite female models to pose nude across from Rodin's Thinker in the Alte Nationalgalerie ( Berlin )

In this gallery room of the Alte Nationalgalerie ( Berlin ), impressionist paintings and Renaissance sculptures evoked my response to add a contemporary element to counter and contribute to this waterfall of beauty. Across from the Rodin sculpture, I would place a similar podium, with a life size female model posing nude exactly like the Rodin Thinker. As such, there would be two thinkers across from each other- one male and one female. Over a three month period would be different female models, starting with life drawing models from the community art schools, then asking art students, then the public, then actresses in Europe and Internationally, then feminists artists, then well known international female politicians, as a way of reframing the identity of the Thinker.

A second intervention would be to find the world’s largest Museum room and have every Rodin Thinker sculpture made, moved into this one room and in a second room the photographs of all the places emptied from the Rodin Thinker sculpture. After the exhibition, to have every Rodin Thinker sculpture be melted down,( except the first original statue moved back to France,) into one extremely large Thinker to be placed in the Sahara Desert facing the Egyptian Pyramids.
