I read the following article in the Independent of London with some concern, at the moment there is discussion over approving the genetically modified 'Aquabounty' salmon, for
dinner tables in the United States. If the approval goes through, perhaps it will be approved in the UK as well, says the article. Following this, there could also be pressure to approve the Aquabounty salmon for human consumption in the rest of the EU.
We don't know whether approval will be granted.
But if anyone asks me why I am a dedicated Aquaponist, I will tell them that besides the enjoyment of watching the fish and plants grow, I also would like to know for certain that I am NOT eating non-genetically modified life forms.
What do you think about this, fellow Aquaponists?
