Your promotion page as a guide
To become a guide you must create a guide page separate from your personal profile; it is your promotional page for you as a guide. You need to have both so be sure you have a complete personal page, because it is linked to your guide page. Sign up or log in and complete your personal profile first.
When you are ready to become a guide you should have already made some contributions (items) related t0 your city. If the city is not on the website add it. Then create some items that you can link to the city page and ultimately your guide page: log in and go to Contributions and click on Add your guide page
- Use a nice title for your guide page and make up a good subtitle. Also write a short and appealing introduction about you as a guide.
- Then you need to link the city you are a guide in to your profile
- Start typing the name of your city. A list of cities will appear; click on the one you were looking for or create a new city if it isn't in the list.
- Similarly you need to link the contributions (event, place, organizations etc.) you have made about your city, to your guide page. Start typing the name of your contribution and a list of items will appear, click on the one you are looking for.
- This is your first guide page! You can edit this page at all times, by dragging, dropping or deleting contributions.
- Choose Keywords: Very important. Keywords link your page to similar/related items. This will increase your visibility not only on the Mediamatic website, but on the whole internet as well!
- After all changes, don't forget to click on Save this page.
Guiding visitors
Your guide page is the online introduction to you and to your city for free. Make sure you make the page visually interesting and inviting. Visitors will be less willing to contact you if the information they see is vague and incomplete.
Visitors can use the ‘Be my Guide’ button to send you their request and travel dates. Please, try to reply as soon as possible with suggestions on what to do and visit in the city. If you are not available just send them a notification that you won't be able to guide them on the given dates.
