Every time I walk to my favorite breakfast place in montreal (see Bagel etc.) my empty stomach is compelled to enter La Centrale by my appetite for surprising or unusual art. It is one of the oldest art centers in montreal (1973), but it takes on one of the most contemporary topics (feminist art). The gallery is quite small so it does not take long to see, but the pieces are always puzzling and always provide for compelling conversation. This is a rarity, and though its easily missed, I'd say its worth prolonging breakfast for a quick visit.
