Cinema du Parc

Preserving independent films at the risk of not preserving itself.

It's located in the grossest mall downtown, but once you enter this cinema that's the last thing on your mind.

It's to be admired that Cinema du Parc is still around when you realize how overrun Montreal is with blockbuster theaters. Without the film heritage of Europe, it is a relatively small cliental that keeps this cinema alive, yet the independent films and enticing retrospectives put on by this cinema keep people coming back time and again.

Though there will often being one mainstream films playing in its theaters, Cinema du Parc is the place to go for limited release films, hard to see documentaries, and cinematic classics.

It is not an especially magnificent theatre, but the walls are always lined with changing artworks and press relevant to the playing films.

For a pleasant, cheaper, and overall more enjoyable experience, go to the Cinema du Parc and preserve a Canadian rarity.
