Designer duo Brigitte Hendrix and Jolanda van den Broek of ...and beyond created an example-coffin that is covered on the outside with silk. A digital print of their idea of paradise can be seen on this fabric. The three dimensional print becomes visible with the help of 3D glasses and conveys Vanity symbolism. The inside of the coffin has been overlaid with black cotton of which ...and beyond formed a shroud. Relatives can stitch memories and farewell wishes onto this shroud.
...and beyond would like to ask relatives to bring along some material to the workshop. They are thinking of pictures or texts that symbolize happy memories, the personality of the deceased or a last message for the loved one. From these images and texts a selection will be made that can be translated into line-drawings to be stitched on the shroud. During the workshop everyone can work on the shroud together.
...and beyond are Brigitte Hendrix and Jolanda van den Broek. They both graduated from the fashion department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2005. Ever since they have been working together as a fashion duo.
...and beyond creates new worlds around fashion. Their work has been on display in de Modefabriek, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, during the Arnhem Fashion Biennial and in several fashion magazines.//
