Meet-a-Maker is a 30-minute session to have a one-on-one talk with artists currently working at Mediamatic. We are lucky to be inspired by the many artists who work and stay with us for exhibitions, residencies and workshops. We welcome you to meet them and be inspired as well!

About the artist

Bronwen Jones (UK) is an artist and textile repairer. In her practice she is interested in the relationship between bodies and textiles — the stories they contain and the traces they leave in one another, and in the transmission of textile craft knowledge over time. Over the last years her main focus has been mending clothing for/with the public as a community-based practice which initiates the sharing of stories and conversations on care, intimacy, value, and ownership. Her work materialises in these interactions, as well as in the resulting textile pieces, publications, and workshops.

She is currently co-organising Textile Initiative, together with Dasha Golova, an initiative that aims to build a network of textile-related practices and welcomes the public to experiment and engage with textile crafts. She sees this project as a continuation of her repair practice, further focusing on repairing social structures by connecting different artists and the public through ideas relating to textile material and craft practices. She grew up in London and has been living in Amsterdam for the last 7 years where she graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in 2020.
