Family-friendly lunch in the Favela

A 3-course lunch by chefs Andrea Sossi and Robert Bochove. We started off with mixed antipasti made from the best ingredients, like coppa-di-parma and pecorino sardo. For the main course we had a choice of either lasagna or melanzane, and for dessert we had a forest fruit parfait.

Tickets were €20,- for adults and €15,- for kids (including a 4-week Club Mediamatic membership (worth €5,-). Location: Mediamatic Fabriek, VOC-kade 10, Oostenburg Amsterdam.

Freezing Favela

Freezing Favela was a temporary city at Mediamatic Fabriek. The space is big, unheated, and the roof leaks. Designers, cooks, and other makers had claimed part of this space as their own. In the Favela you could make tosti's from scratch, paper from cow dung, furniture from cardboard, and cook with ingredients from the aquaponics farm. Favela-citizens gave workshops and organized events and meals.

Favelous - Some of our events are catered by local neighborhood cooks. The cook sets a price for his or her meal, cooks either at home or at our place, and sells the food to our visitors. Depending on how big the event is, we invite one or multiple cooks. All proceeds go the chef. Erik Diekstra

Eating sausage - Kids and their parents eat sausage during the lunch "Waar komt mijn eten vandaan?" which was part of the Watertanden exhibition at Mediamatic Fabriek.
