I want the visitors to perceive the heavy cultural and intellectual content and background of a contemporary art museum as something to understand, play and interact with. I want the visitors to take an active part within the museum exhibition, and this can be achieved by making the art reachable and understandable through a playful and light means of communication and interaction. I want to enrich the contemporary art museum experience by making the visit an interactive playground where visitors can express, share and contribute. By doing so the visitors modify the museum content and influence the possible interactions between the artworks and the exhibition space itself.
My target group of users are visitors of contemporary art museums, that without a specific artist background, want to have a deeper understanding of the exhibitions in which they are involved as well as share their experience.
Typically electronic museum guides provide route planning and information on exhibits. Information can only be “pulled” by the user. In the My Guide application , the user can “pull” and “push” information.The visitor can take pictures and create comments and then share the captured experience with via social media forums such as Facebook or Twitter. The MyGuide application will be developed on the iPhone platform and made freely available to museum visitors
The web2.0 is the platform where the interaction within the user and his experience can take place. My Guide is the bridge from the museum visit experience to the sharing experience. New technologies as smart phone applications connected to social media and web platforms well as social media can definitely create an art experience of the future.
