The work is an organic investigation of the constitution of the space on location. The relationships between the several spaces and relationship to the human body, navigational routes within the work and the ingress of the light, the piece conjures up a tension that, at times, produces an almost theatrical experience.
Moreover, and quite exceptionally, in her Lucia Luptáková building creates space tailor-made to accommodate the work of other artists. With this, the drawings of Maaike van der Linden and the sculptures of Maartje Korstanje are not presented in the customary, neutral space. Rather, the works themselves determine the construction and mood of the space. This will yield a more physical, intimate experience with which the original perception of the drawings and sculptures will be explored afresh.
Somewhere else
An expansive installation
For W139, Lucia Luptukova is creating a work that both stands in the space and is itself an access point to areas of W139 that are not normally accessible: a system of corridors that meanders diagonally through the various layers of the building. In its entirety, the system covers the side space, the rear space, the cellar and the space beneath the roof.
