Sabien Poutsma studied arts in Amsterdam and then started working on sets for television programs. She also started as a teacher and tour guide in the Rijksmuseum of Amsterdam, which she still does. Sixteen years ago Sabien moved to Zaandam where she was confronted with the dominant smell of cocoa. A few years in, she got interested in the smelly cocoa scent. The more she learned about it, the more the smell changed into a source of inspiration for her next challenge: a cacao and chocolate shop with education.
She is a certified chocolate taster, the co-founder of the CacaoLab / DropLab and she is part of the test-panel of the cocoa factory Olam, to distinguish off flavours in cocoa products. One could say that the smell of cocoa changed her life.
