Unfortunately, Noord has no specific gay bars or clubs, but there’s some parties at the NDSM area that are particularly gay-friendly. Local residents initiated Pink Noord, a quarterly meeting for the local "holebi' community (gays, lesbians and bisexuals). They organize drinks at a different location every time, as announced on www.pinknoord.nl. For a more extensive gay night out, you could take a ferry to the city centre and walk over to the Reguliersdwarsstraat. During the annual Amsterdam Gay Pride in summertime, you can admire the colorful parade of boats with extravagantly dressed men and women from the riverbanks.

The social acceptance of homosexuality in Noord is similar to the rest of the Netherlands. Noorderners are generally tolerant to gays, so holding hands in public is fine.
