The New TV

Emotional television for the future.

We are daily being attacked by TV images and sounds, and, most of all, by their monotony. TV is dull because image and sound give their messages at the same time. This has to be overcome by fantasy.

Even though the image on the screen is moving, it cannot go beyond its limits. It should be possible to outdo broadcasting companies by putting emotional televisions on the market. The installations depicted can be used as examples by Philips, since all apparatus fits into a large size TV set.

Until the new television is produced we can make do with my tapes.

Are You Afraid of Video? - The pneumatic whip that rises out of the monitors lashes about wildly, on the rhythm of the images on the screen, which vary from aggressive news to pornography. The lashing whip involves the spectator in what is going on. New flashes and other activities regain their activating power in this way. IN any case it ought to be prohibited to drink coffee during the news. It may be necessary to put things in perspective, but this should be done after the news headlines. Servaas Schoone

Upside Down - The family is seated, before their television set, on pneumatic chairs, and are moving up or down , directed by the program that is being watched. This produces mutual embarrassment among the spectators. We are all in the same boat, watching television. Servaas Schoone
