Orlan has been exhibiting paintings, sculptures, books, performances and installations since 1969. She is a Professor at l'Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Dijon. Her work juxtaposes images of the sacred and profane, using religious iconography and focussing, in particular, on the Madonna.
