Claudia Weber came to Kobe in the summer of 2008. She arrived here after her flight from Munich. She was met at the airport by C.A.P. director Nobuhisa Shimoda and taken to her residence.
In addition to housing, a studio had been arranged for her at C.A.P.'s new home. After some down time for jet lag she was off to work.
During the ensuing months Claudia produced an impressive array of work. She explored space and structure in drawings and paintings that interrogate creatures of popular culture and public space.
Her show at C.A.P., which opened in September, was the subject broad interest and was well attended.
Claudia Weber talks about her work in a taped conversation at the Kobe Pavilion at the Amsterdam Biennale.
I apologize for the sound.
