By using robot technologies as a visual medium the international artist group IMG_SRC reflects on new technical developments. They stand for a long critical tradition in the arts towards science referring for instance to Aldiuos Huxley’s Brave New World.
The major factor of this project is to discuss the western idea of progress, and the ethical responsibility of technological innovation. The interaction of artistic and scientific creativity aims on not only being innovative as a l'art-pour-l'art, but on being innovative in a ecologically, socially and economically responsible way.

De internationale kunstenaars groep IMG_SRC benadert nieuwe technologische ontwikkelingen door gebruik te maken van robottechnieken. Met hun kritische opstelling ten aanzien van deze nieuwe technieken staan zij in de artistieke traditie van vooruitgangsscepticisten als Aldous Huxley.
Het belangrijkste thema dat dit project ter discussie wil stellen is de inhoud van ons Westerse begrip van vooruitgang. De uitdaging voor de samenwerking tussen kunstenaars en wetenschappers is niet alleen technologisch innovatief, maar ook duurzaam op ecologisch, sociaal en economisch vlak. Daarnaast is de combinatie van de zogenaamde wetenschappelijke objectiviteit en dito artistieke subjectiviteit een experiment an sich.
Kan interdisciplinariteit als een podium dienen voor het deconstrueren van de binaire tegenstelling tussen objectiviteit en subjectiviteit? In het slotgesprek zal daarom de machtspositie van wetenschap als objectieve discipline ter discussie worden gesteld.
