You've hacked an old casio keyboard or built a basic oscillator circuit. You've gotten some incredible sounds. Now wouldn't it be great to be able to control those sounds with all the precision of a digital sequencer? In this Drive-By workshop, Casperelectronics founder Pete Edwards will show you how to use the Arduino micro controller as a digital sequencer for precise control over simple electronics.
This will be a hands-on hardware workshop with a focus on identifying and modifying elements of simple electronics which can be controlled by the low power digital signals of the Arduino. The applications for this approach are as diverse as the creative interests of the participants. We will be talking a lot about using this technique for music production and rhythm sequencing, but please feel free to bring your own artistic ideas to the class for discussion!
Participants will leave this class with an electronic device modified to be interfaced with an Arduino. They will also leave with a solid understanding of a relatively simple but very powerful technique for modifying electronics. If the participant brings their own Arduino, they will also leave with a programmed micro controller.
