Portbou

Benjamin committed suicide in Portbou at the French–Spanish border while attempting to escape from the Nazis. His grave is currently located in this remarkable transition town. Also Hannah Arendt crossed the Spanish border here in order to flee for the same antisemitic dictatorship.
