Tim Hetherington looked for alternative ways to photograph conflicts and to reveal human experiences of war. In 2011, he was tragically killed when working in Libya. The evening will examine what photographers can do to ask different questions, side-track the spectacle of conflict photography and engage the genuine interest of your public.

Max Houghton is Senior Lecturer in Photography at the University of Westminster. She will present a brief history of the various approaches to conflict photography and how Hetherington's work fits into it.
James Brabazon is a documentary-maker, journalist and photographer. He worked with Tim Hetherington in Liberia between 2003-2007. He will talk about that period as well as Tim Hetherington's approach and personality.
Stephen Mayes is the director of The Estate of Tim Hetherington, NY. He will address issues of masculinity, aggression and war in relation to Hetherington's work. This will be followed by a discussion and an opportunity to ask questions.
Later there will be an exclusive showing of of Sebastian Junger's recently released documentary 'Which Way is the Frontline from Here? The Life and Time of Tim Hetherington'.
