Ninety Minutes of Frame is a live version of the magazine and presents a programme of lectures and debates. The first edition welcomes Pieter Kool (head of design and development at fashion brand G-Star RAW) for an exclusive presentation about the company’s design philosophy. Kool’s Keynote offers rare insights into G-Star RAW’s creative DNA, which extends to fashion shows, retail showcases and collaborations that result in outputs such as furniture and vehicles.
Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli (associate at AMO, the OMA think-tank that deals with the office’s non-architectural endeavors) will discuss the firm’s collaborations with Prada. Part of the evening called The Making of, the case study addresses the 13-year long relationship between these industry giants.
In Step by Step, Dutch product designer Jólan van der Wiel explains his partnership with fashion designer Iris van Herpen. Together, they developed an innovative haute couture dress by employing Van der Wiel’s gravity-production process based on magnetism.
To further link the disciplines, Frame’s editor in chief Robert Thiemann will show a Visual Column – an illustrative representation of the common ground between fashion and spatial design.
Young talents can make a Claim to Frame by sending their latest work to the magazine’s editorial team. The best submissions will be given the opportunity to present their work during a Ninety Minutes of Frame event. The first edition features the work of up-and-coming designer Niek Pulles.
