This personal follow-up and revival of a past habit is important as an act of reflection. By investigating the concept of landscape in an adventurous and exploratory way, she wants to amplify the wonderment of the spectator by creating compositions or settings that generate tranquil poetic images that leave traces and balances on the edge of alienation and recognition. Her works appear as dreamlike images, often accompanied by scent, in which fiction and reality meet, meanings shift, past and present fuse. For the past years Ravat has been developing works related to the sense of smell as a research on how do we perceive through this sense. Klara Ravat currently lives and works in Berlin.
In Sept 2016 Klara will be part of an Artist in Residency program at Mediamatic, where she will work on the creation of a new performance, which be performed at Odorama: Art + Distillation and the production of the Workshop: The Scent of Amsterdam, where participants will learn how to distill the scent of our city.
