Daniel Soliman (1985) studied Egyptology at the University of Leiden, where as a student he researched sculpture from the late Middle Kingdom. He also participated in excavations in Saqqara and Abydos.
In 2016, Soliman obtained his doctorate at the same university with a dissertation on identity marks and literacy in the community of necropolis workers in Deir el-Medina. He then worked as a teacher and researcher at the University of Copenhagen within a research project on the economy and administration of monumental tomb construction during the New Kingdom.
In 2018-2019, Soliman contributed to an investigation into the trade in illegal antiquities at the British Museum and the creation of a research database with pharaonic artifacts in private collections.
