Eau d'îles de l'Est
A conceptual perfume of Oosterdok
In this three-part series, Iris van den Linden and Amber Striekwold fashion a conceptual perfume of Oosterdok in the age of the Dutch East India Company. Like every perfume, their Early modern “Eau d’îles de l’Est” consists of base notes, middle notes, and top notes: the smell of water, the odour of the industries and the public smells of the people.
